Background Information
My name is Anthony Calise and I have been a teacher for Baltimore County Public Schools for the past 24 years as well as a Math Professor for the past 20 years at several different colleges. I have taught numerous courses in person and online, from Basic Algebra all the way up to Advanced Statistics and Discrete Mathematics. I was the Academy of Engineering Coordinator at Lansdowne H.S as well as in charge of the Mathematics Team, Mathematics Club, and the Video Game/Design Club. I have coached Baseball and Golf at the high school level, and I am currently teaching Probability & Statistics, Pre-College Math and AP Statistics.
I am also teaching several math classes at Johns Hopkins University, Loyola University, CCBC, and AACC during the evenings and on the weekends. My specialties are in Statistical Analysis and Discrete Mathematics, but I love teaching any math/statistics course. I grew up in New York where I graduated from Bethpage High School in 1997, then moved to Maryland in order to attend Towson University, where I received Degrees in Mathematics & Mathematics Education. I also have two beautiful daughters Elizabeth and Olivia and just got my first pet dog Bailey!

Math Joke of the Month
FIRE!
An engineer, a physicist and a mathematician are staying in a hotel.
The engineer wakes up and smells smoke. He goes out into the hallway and sees a fire, so he fills a trash can from his room with water and douses the fire. He goes back to bed.
Later, the physicist wakes up and smells smoke. He opens his door and sees a fire in the hallway. He walks down the hall to a fire hose and after calculating the flame velocity, distance, water pressure, trajectory, etc. extinguishes the fire with the minimum amount of water and energy needed.
Later, the mathematician wakes up and smells smoke. He goes to the hall, sees the fire and then the fire hose. He thinks for a moment and then exclaims, "Ah, a solution exists!" and then goes back to bed.
